While I was pregnant with Lorenzo I started this baby blanket project. I was so excited because for the first time I would be making a blanket for my own baby. In the past I tried to crochet baby blankets for my cousin's first born babies and a few close friends. But somewhere down the line with school and a demanding job I just couldn't keep up. Instead I was limited to smaller projects.
It wasn't until now I wanted to start with blankets again. Although this time I didn't want to make the same plain blanket. I wanted to try my hand at something a little more advanced. I started my project, but became far too busy with work that I put my crochet needle down for a little while. The next thing I knew Lorenzo was here and my blanket was still not done. I was determined that my little one have his blanket. I finished it up just in time for his 6 Months photos. Or as I liked to think if it, his 1/2 Birthday.
I have to admit that I've always had a hard time reading crochet patterns. So I sometimes look to YouTube videos since I am more of a visual learner. To make this Zig Zag blanket I used a great tutorial posted by Happy Ganchillo. The tutorial was all in Spanish, but she did crochet at a good pace so that I could follow along. Below is how the blanket turned out. I would say Lorenzo likes it too, don't you?
If you want to use the same tutorial this is the one I used.

She has a ton of other helpful tutorials and ideas for crochet projects. She is now my first stop when I'm looking for a new project. Here is the link to her blog if you are interested http://www.happyganchillo.es/.
